“Probably the first single barrel at cask strength from Hawaii to date. On the nose still quite perfumed, in the taste then quite clearly coconut, some citrus abrasion, milk chocolate, sea salt and vanilla pulp and slightly metallic notes. Pleases well, but could be a little rounder. ne bottle I would not need it.”

“An exciting new rum profile. At the beginning almost only fruit (orange to tangerine), which develops after some time in the glass to a delicious cocoa and milk chocolate mix (of course, not nearly as much cocoa as the infused variant of Koloa). Young wood and a certain spiciness that cavorts between fruit and chocolate rounds it all out.”

“Not bad for a five-year-old rum. The storage in Hawaii means of course a different degree of maturity than in continental storage, for example, at one of the large European brokers - in this respect, one should not be misled by the age statement. Exciting and promising in essence - I'm curious what further years in the barrel or possibly differently pre-occupied barrels can cause. Currently tasty solid, but still relatively close to comparable profiles from Barbados, Belize or Venezuela. All the sadder that all the rest of matured bottlings, which has reached us from Kōloa from Kaua'i so far, was hardly comparable, because probably not bottled pure (nota bene a guess on my part, based purely on subjective taste experiences). Beautiful discovery!”
