Koloa Rum Company Rumclub Private Selection Ed. 30 (Hawaiian Rum) 2017
Highly praised for its coconut‑chocolate profile, creamy texture and well-handled 60.55% strength. Seen as an exciting, distinct debut from Hawaii with good balance despite its youth.
Curious explorers of high-proof rums who enjoy coconut, chocolate and vanilla profiles similar to Foursquare/Belize, and want a distinctive, unsweetened single cask from a new origin.

How does this rum taste?
Coconut‑chocolate Hawaiian power sipper
If you like Foursquare-style coconut‑vanilla cask strength rums, this Hawaiian single cask gives you a similar comfort zone with an extra creamy, tropical twist and no added sugar.
Beginners, those sensitive to high ABV burn, or drinkers expecting deep age-driven complexity rather than a youthful, flavor-forward profile.
The whole thing is extremely relaxed on the nose: A mix of fruit, lots of vanilla, a little nutmeg, wood, flowers and burnt sugar unfolds. What an invitation to try the rum straight away. This impression continues in the mouth. Pleasantly spicy, subtle coconut notes, lots of vanilla, a little salt, young wood (so not very bitter) and milk chocolate, licorice and bitter orange. Tastes like a mix of intense Spanish and Foursquare with salt. The Koloa Single Cask has something nutty and creamy about it, the texture reminds us a little of peanut butter.

Wirklich ein wunderbarer Sipper. Hoher Alk, aber wirklich toll eingebunden. Macht richtig Spaß
From the distillery there's a single barrel with about 59%, which's m.E. only in the U.S.. But at least this is probably the first single cask of an independent bottler... am curious:Nose: very aromatic, lots of fruit, sweet and floral, almost perfume. Besides but also neat spicy with allspice or nutmeg and vanilla. Fresh green apple and muted blackberry, quince, bergamot and lemon. Sweetness comes from burnt and caramelized sugar. I also find some milk chocolate. Slightly smoky-roasty in the background with a subtle vinegar note.Palate: interesting; spicy, slightly bitter-salty-hot and coconut milk at first. Creamy texture. Sweet caraway with some licorice and fat nut, pecan. Almost some umami. Lemon zest, metallic.Excitingly good!
Interessante
