How does this rum taste?
Neisson's 15 ans rum, distilled in 2005 from sugar cane juice and aged to perfection over 15 years in Martinique, offers an intense olfactory experience dominated by tobacco, vanilla, and woody notes. This limited release features a robust taste profile where wood, spice, and dark chocolate take precedence, creating a complex and finely balanced agricole rum. While some find its woody notes overpowering, others praise its nuanced flavors, making it a celebrated selection among rum enthusiasts. With only 339 bottles available, its exclusivity adds to its allure. RumX users appreciate its balance, though some note it competes with equally high-quality Neisson rums from 2005.

on the nose at first almost something unpleasant towards superglue, then slightly acidic root vegetables, nutty notes, caraway, nutmeg, tobacco, caramel and papaya. On the palate, wood barrel, nutmeg, chocolate. Finishes toasty and dark chocolate/cocoa. Again a good Neisson, however, in the 2005 vintage the competition of good Neissons is great, and eg the Velier 70th still clearly better.
First glue and polish, let it breathe a little. Then spice, moderate wood maturity for 15 years and the macaroons and almonds typical of Neisson. Slightly animal, some mango. Very complex, well balanced. Wood dominates in the mouth, far too much of it. This is followed by some mango and macaroons, it doesn't really excite. The finish could be longer. The nose meets the high expectations, but then there is too much wood. Of course a very good rum, but there are clearly better Neissons.
Though overpriced, like always with the older bottling, this is a nicely balanced rum Agricole. The Agricole notes are there from nose to finish with some added fruits, spices and roasted wood.
Sehr rund, ausgewogen, trotz der wenigen Prozente ein schön intensiver Geschmack.
