#4035 This was a little surprise sample in one of my orders. Looking at the price tag you get a lot for your money. Lightly fruity with a nice smoky touch to it. The wood and spices mingle well together and the palate is oily. Draws very nice curtains in the glass and the empty glass is fruitier than I expected.
Sweet and light mint taste. I like it! Beautiful matt for a bottle under 100e. Alcohol can be smelled, but very drinkable. I recommend it even to beginners for discovering new flavours. Mata from TDL is an unmistakable taste that you will never get tired of.
NOSE: rich caramel, sour fruits, wood spice, a little adhesive. PALATE: buttered toast with jelly, overripe banana, cardamon cake, caramel drizzle, baking spices. With water: more butter & salted caramel, more tropical fruit. FINISH: passionfruit jelly, kiwi, wood spice, tropical fruit esters, tailpipe emissions, diesel. With water: sweeter, more rounded. OVERALL: lovely balance of rich cask influence, with bright tropical fruit notes. The salted caramel was a pleasant surprise after adding a bit of water. The alcohol is well integrated, but the high proof is evident. I'd recommend proofing down in the glass. SCORE: 82/100
