S.B.S Guyana PM is a distinctive rum from the Uitvlugt Distillery in Guyana, selected by 1423 World Class Spirits. Distilled in 1999 using a pot still, this rum aged for 23 years before being bottled at cask strength with an ABV of 62.6%. Known for its complex aroma, featuring notes of barrel, hay, and spice, and its earthy, woody taste complemented by hints of nutty sweetness and green apple. It's often noted for its whisky-like qualities, with a long, dry finish. While appreciated for its uniqueness, some find the wood influence overpowering, and the high ABV challenging. This limited release has only 156 bottles available, appealing to collectors and connoisseurs alike.

Second tasting: nice complex PM (+1) The nose reveals Port Mourant. This profile always makes me think of whisky (Highlands in this case). The alcohol tweaks and I'm also reminded of aged grappa. More intense on the palate than the nose suggests and surprisingly sweet. The finish is long, salty and dry as dust. It goes back in the direction of whisky, but this time smoky. The rum is definitely good and expressive but the PM profile is not for me.
I had expected a bit more from this release because of its age. I got a bit disappointed because the balance is not fully there and the ABV could have been better integrated. Still it's an intense profile (wood) and I like the nutts on the palate.
I like it very much! Beautiful, really complex PM, but borderline woody.
In der Nase Erde Torf Holz und Kräuter. Im Geschmack sehr erdig Torf Holz und Kräuter. Aber auch Frucht wie grüner Apfel und Birne. Sehr ölig. Langer Abgang mit Kräuter und Holz. Nicht ganz meins. Aber durchaus Komplex und interessant.
