Long Pond Plantation Jamaica (Vinothek Massen) VRW 2009
Highly praised as a balanced Long Pond: ripe tropical fruit, gentle funk and well‑integrated orange finish, with an accessible 53.2% that still delivers character and easy drinking.
Fans of Jamaican rum who like some esters and tropical fruit but prefer a softer, sweeter profile with an orange twist rather than full-on Hampden-style funk.

How does this rum taste?
Balanced Long Pond with orange twist
If you enjoy Long Pond character but want something softer and fruitier, this gives you VRW funk dialed back with sweet orange notes, making it a relaxed cask strength sipper.
Those wanting big high-ester aggression, ultra-dry profiles, or very high ABV complexity; also anyone who dislikes sweeter, orange-forward finishes.

The goal? To offer you, the rum connoisseur, a place where you can choose with confidence—without paperwork, detours, or expert jargon.

A short bite of Jamaican funkiness soon turns into sweet orange/mandarin, a combo that definitely works for me.
First of all, a big thank you to SaibotZtar for this awesome mega-split from Plantation with some really rare bottlings. I'm honestly very excited about what Plantation can do now.
Auch hier ein schön ausbalancierter LP, hat genug Power, ist trotzdem einfach zu trinken. Orangenwein-Finish hätte ich blind nicht rausgeschmeckt.
On the nose the bottling shows a nice combination of fruity notes and wood. Quite balanced and enjoyable. Compared to other releases with (predominant tropical aging), this one is way less funky/ester heavy on the nose than I expected for a VRW. The „Orange Wine“ is detectable on the nose but imo in no way overwhelming. Similar on the palate: very well balanced with fruits and wood. Again not very funky. The Orange notes are showing up on the finish a bit more but are otherwise well integrated into the mix.
