How does this rum taste?
RumX members love this Samaroli T.D.L. for its mint-forward, fruit-laden profile and well-integrated 55% ABV. Caramel and menthol on the nose lead to ripe peach and berries, tobacco and a subtle smoky-dirty touch. Many enjoy it neat; it opens with air and finishes long, cool and balanced. With 60 community reviews and strong buyer confidence, it’s a trusted pick for fans of expressive Trinidad 2003.

I'm Oliver – together with Jakob, Robert, and Lukas, we started RumX in 2018 as a small passion project in Stuttgart, back then under the name Rum Tasting Notes.
What began as a digital tasting diary is now the world's most comprehensive platform for rum fans: over 24,000 bottlings, 250,000+ independent reviews, and an active community with 46,000 members. We combine the collective intelligence of our community with an integrated marketplace, allowing you to shop securely and manage your collection directly from the app.
The goal? To offer you, the rum connoisseur, a place where you can choose with confidence—without paperwork, detours, or expert jargon.
This T.D.L. is a good rum, but I don't like something here. The nose is okay, the palate has a lot of menthol and light fruits. The palate lacks intensity and the finish is short. For the price, a no-brainer in the opposite sense =P Second tasting: - 4 pts.
A TDL with a very caramelized nose. Then mentholated, woody. The nose is rather closed. On the palate, it's much more expressive: very present mint, fruit, tobacco. Dark and smoky. Reminds me very much of the TDL CDI selected by Caksus. Rather long finish. Very minty. A hint of dirtiness. It's a very particular profile that won't appeal to everyone. For me, it's a very good representative of this vintage's TDLs. The oxidation of the bottle really suits it.
I also had the Nobilis 2003 and the TDLRoni to compare with this one. Unfortunately, the latter drifts a little towards the mentholated side, which does not allow for a better rating. Those who like this profile will certainly enjoy it.
A very fruity nose with citrus, unripe exotic fruit, carambola and flowers. On the palate, an explosion of fruit with a hint of menthol. The finish is long and elegant. A delicious rum, tasted blind, that can't deny its origin.
