How does this rum taste?
What stands out for most reviewers is the fresh, complex character of this Chamarel 2013, with fruity and herbal notes layered over subtle spice and vanilla. Many pick up light polish and floral aromas, while the taste often brings out pear, plum, and agricole qualities. It's a slow sipper, with buyers mentioning it develops nicely after resting. Ideal for those seeking a nuanced, cask strength agricole, it's praised for its complexity and limited availability.

I'm Oliver – together with Jakob, Robert, and Lukas, we started RumX in 2018 as a small passion project in Stuttgart, back then under the name Rum Tasting Notes.
What began as a digital tasting diary is now the world's most comprehensive platform for rum fans: over 24,000 bottlings, 250,000+ independent reviews, and an active community with 46,000 members. We combine the collective intelligence of our community with an integrated marketplace, allowing you to shop securely and manage your collection directly from the app.
The goal? To offer you, the rum connoisseur, a place where you can choose with confidence—without paperwork, detours, or expert jargon.
It is fresh, I like that, but I am not in love. I expected more I have to addmit
This rum is like a candy - it smells like mead but with a hint of varnished wood..the flavor is complex..from sweet honey on the nose to overripe fruit to a bit more technical varnish and spices like cloves and cinnamon. The finish is medium to long...it's the kind of rum to sip every evening when you're craving something sweeter (like Christmas) but not too sweet...just like a candy bar.
Disappointing, licorice and chervil and other spices fine, but the taste does not amuse me
A slightly spicy nose, with a hint of nail polish :) On the palate, a little acidity that stings the nose, warm, spicy notes with a hint of lemon or citrus fruit and a slight bitterness.
