A very nice WP and at a very affordable price at release. Fruity with nice wood and spices. I really like the caramel hiding in the profile. The ABV has been well integrated. Needs to rest for a good while before it settles. Draws nice curtains in the glass and the nose is wonderful in the empty glass.
Second quasi-blind-taste looking for the best Worthy “the secret distillery” Park in my collection. Sample X 12y 2010 56,8% Velier WP 2006 11y 57,5 Kill Devil 2007 14y 59,1%. Let’s see! C. L Gold N. 5min in and its close, much like the Sample X. I get saltiness, fresh celery, and red apples. I also get a floral essence, making this Kill Devil the most complex of the 3 rums. After 15min in all is settled and the nose is beautiful. Sweet but still crispy enough to be dangerous. Jamaica baby. Best nose! M. I have a special connection to Kill Devil since I bought my first Hampden CH 10y 64,1%. What a fu*ing bomb that rum was. Anyways, back to WP, fresh sweetened Pink Lady apple juice, floral fumes and lots of spices at the end. F. Not too long, slightly “not-white-pepper” spicy. Buy: Yes
Tresne, caramel, medium-long warming finish
On The Rocks: On the nose it has very mild alcohol, fruit, floral and spices. Smells very gentle for such a high ABV. Taste reveals an extremely smooth rum with a strong honey sweetness with mild underlying fruit, floral, price and woody notes. For such a high ABV it is very tame and smooth. Finish is long with a very slight delayed burn with fruit fading off into the honey sweetness. Overall this is an extremely gentle and refined rum. Mixed Pepsi Zero: On the nose very mild sweetness and floral notes. Strong leather notes with an almost metallic aftertaste. It is not enjoyable mixed and feels very off balance. Suggested drink this on the rock and not mixed.
