How does this rum taste?
Nanayang Whisky Singapore, distilled in 1989 at Guyana's Port Mourant distillery, is a 33-year-old rum aged in a pot still from molasses, with an ABV of 46.7%. Limited to only 203 bottles, it exhibits prominent woody and leather notes, complemented by hints of anise and earthy undertones. Users appreciate its complex nose, featuring woody and red fruit aromas. On the palate, it delivers flavors of cherry and tannins, with a gentle finish. While its aromatic complexity stands out, some find it thin and less integrated due to lower ABV. This rum's unique profile positions it as a notable choice for enthusiasts seeking a well-aged, independent bottling experience by The Whisky Jury.

Small 1989 Utivlugt cross tasting: Nobilis vs. CorCol vs. CoR vs. Ricci vs. TWJ. On the nose: CoR >>> Ricci > TWJ = Nob > CC With its higher ABV the CoR is playing in a wholly different league - stunning on the nose. CC needs very much time to open up. TWJ with the darkest nose; Most leather and wood forwards. Palate: CoR > Nobilis > CC > TWJ >> Ricci The TWJ also feels a little watered down to much comparatively. However it is better balanced than the Ricci. Wood and herb forwards.
Compared to the Nobilis No 6 (89, 31 yr), the WJ has the more typical PM nose with lots of olive, anise, gooseberry, caramel. Barrel, black tea on the palate. The tart finish compensates quite well for the rather low ABV.
Complex despite the low percentages, typical olive PM notes with less fruit, long, somewhat astringent finish.
