How does this rum taste?
Most enjoy the fresh, grassy olive and herb notes and find it an interesting agricole-style from Australia. Critics feel the alcohol is poorly integrated and the 40% makes it thin and short.
If you like lighter agricoles or Clairin but want something softer, this gives you that green, olive, cane-juice character at easy strength—just don’t expect big body or polish.
Those new to rum expecting sweet, smooth molasses flavors, and enthusiasts who want high-ester intensity, rich body or cask-strength power.

Australia Advent Calendar 2025 (-1).
The nose is very similar to a Rhum Agricole. Lots of salty olives and cut grass. The palate has darker vegetal notes of tobacco. It's quite dry. The olive notes are a lot more subtle. The finish is longer than expected. Peppery and a bit grassy but it's all in the background. It's a good stab at cane juice rum from an unusual location. It isn't giving Rhum J.M anything to worry about. If it was a higher ABV it might have been nicer.
