How does this rum taste?
The Limited Edition Single Cask HLCF from Hampden Distillery is a 2016 Jamaican rum, aged for 6 years and bottled by Habitation Velier. Crafted from molasses and distilled in a pot still, this exclusive batch has just 262 bottles available. It captivates with intense aromas of pineapple and esters, enriched by vanilla and marzipan notes. Users find this rum smoother than other Hampden releases, but some note its higher alcohol content and dominant bourbon cask influence. The flavor profile features honey and pineapple, with underlying sweetness and vanilla. Although some feel it's less complex than earlier releases, the intricate layers of fruit, spice, and esters leave a lasting impression.

An der Nase trop. Früchten, Marzipan, etwas Olive, Ester, etwas Klebstoff, leicht butterig, dazu Vergorenes/Saures. Am Gaumen passiert mir dann aber einfach zu wenig. Etwas Ester, florale Noten, wenig Frucht, etwas Vanille, leicht adstringend. ABV ist gut eingebunden.
Quite medicinal, alcoholic and virgin oaky on the nose, behind which gingerbread and mirabelle plums and other stone fruits are discreetly hidden. Aromatically, it is then clear what the matter is: Bourbon cask but how! Surprisingly little of the Hampden can still be tasted, I would be interested to know what kind of fresh grenade bourbon cask was used here? Sesame, honeycomb, beeswax, virgin oak and vanilla. Basically a very tasty Hampden rum for the US market, but the bourbon almost steals the show from the Hampden! 😄 On the other hand, the finish has this overly delicious sesame banana honey note that I really celebrate!
Mir gefallen diese HLCF's sehr. Dieser hier wie immer sehr geschmeidig. Alkohol hintenraus sehr stark. Schöner runder tropischer Hampden. Preis leider hoch, aber auch das ist nichts Neues.
Sehr guter Hampden! Allerdings stehe ich bei Hampden eher auf höhere Ester.
