Plantation Black Cask Barbados & Cuba 2022

Hoppla, wo ist denn hier Cuba in der Nase? Tatsächlich recht wenig davon im Geruch, dafür viel fruchtiges Barbados. Mit etwas Zeit und Wärme bekommt er mehr Körper, und die Frucht wird leichter - und Erdbeere spielt tatsächlich eine Rolle. Wenig Rauch für 'Black Cask'. Im Mund dann doch recht süß. Keine großen Ausreißer im Geschmack. Aber auch hier - Erdbeere. Ich weiß nicht was genau im Blend passiert, aber es scheint dass Cubanoten mit fruchtig genau dahin lehnen. Spannend was die Aromatik angeht. Das spezielle Finish wird kräftiger je mehr Luft er bekommt. Nach hinten raus dann pelzig, trocken und rauchig an den Zungenflanken - dieses typische 'Beißen' ohne unangenehm zu werden.

V chuti sladsi, ovocny, prijemny na jazyku. Ocekaval bych vice "koure" a plnejsi chut s delsim zaverem, nicmene za ty penize si to sve kupce najde.

Bisschen würziger als sein Vorgänger

The typical roasted coconut of many Plantation rums paired with banana and dunder funk which I normally expect from a Jamaican. Smells more fruity,but tastes more nutty. The finish is short and almost not existent. Payed 26€, which I think is fair. Edit: After a few weeks, I only get pure strawberry when smelling it.

Barbados and Cuba combine to form this inexpensive Plantation. We find the traditional notes of coconut and banana, but also sweet spices, chocolate, caramel, a few roasted notes and dried fruit. A classic profile, without a doubt. The attack on the palate is soft, with a syrupy texture that accentuates the greediness. Apart from caramel, coconut and banana, it's mainly the smoky notes that stand out on the palate. The profile is sweet but dark, with toast, almond and toasted hazelnut. A slight touch of alcohol also makes itself felt. The finish, of decent length, follows in the footsteps of the palate, with smoky, tonka-bean notes. The dilution of the alcohol is noticeable, resulting in a rather dull aftertaste. A simple rum that will delight neophytes at an equally gentle price.

Level: mild, entry. Surprisingly good for an entry level sweet 40 ABV.

#4094 This release also has a bit of smoke on it as its predecessors. Lightly fruity with spices but generally thin. Unfortunately watered down too much in my mind. Price to quality is OK. Probably good in a mixer.
