A feast for the eyes, but against its (discontinued) 23-year-old brother an explicit downgrade. A good rum, but too expensive because of its lack of mature complexity. Too bad, the "old" 23iger was really very good.
On The Rocks: On the nose immediate brown sugar sweetness with moderate floral notes with delay mild alcohol and vanilla undertones. Taste has a strong but brief brown sugar sweetness leading into an initial alcohol hit with spices. Finish is medium length with a mild sweetness fading out. This is an ok supper but not as good as the 23 Year. May need to revisit this one the bottle had had some time to breath. Mixed Pepsi Zero: On the nose smells like Pepsi zero with a bitter brown sugar. Taste is smooth and sweet with a medium length finish with the sweetness fading out. It is good mixed but a shame at this price… but on the rocks it is nothing to write home about. Disappointing overall.
From beginning the smell and same the taste starts with fruity orange tones and later there rises caramel undertone. Overall not heavy or sweet rather light fruity taste. But alcohol layer there is quite strong, doesn't feel like well aged. After taste a bit bitter, woody. The bottle is nice looking and levels up the experience. Overall medium quality rum with no surprise, but worth of a try for reasonable price.
