Habitation Velier Amrut Indian Pure Single Rum (Collection Antipodes) 2015
Most enjoy its unusual mix of Spanish-style sweetness, agricole hints and tropical fruit. Critics find the alcohol sharp and wood-driven. Consensus: interesting, tasty, but not fully tamed.
Curious explorers of non-traditional origins who enjoy dry, high-proof rums with a bridge between Spanish-style caramel sweetness, light agricole vibes, and tropical fruit complexity.

As a fan of Indian cuisine, I wanted to try the Jaggery Rum. I had no particular expectations, but the rum has me from the first moment ih its spell. This nose is really very nice, like the lovely TDLs but with an intense, ripe, oxidative, yellow partly tropical fruit. Kind of in between caramel Spanish style rums and the cognac-heavy Agricole - great blend of sweetness and complexity. In the mouth the profile is similar, with more prominent wood and a note of sweet black tea (Turkish chay) and heavy ripe fruit: peach.
I find the not only interesting, but actually quite tasty. In the nose and on the palate he has etwwas I can not believe, but what reminds me of the rums of Nine Leaves from Japan.
Cherry bomb. Reminds me of Chairman’s Reserve Masters Selection but less dry and less spice.
