How does this rum taste?
The Chalong Bay Distillery's "Collection Antipodes" from Thailand is a limited release rum distilled from sugar cane juice using a column still in 2020. Bottled at cask strength with an ABV of 62.1%, this rum delivers a vibrant array of vegetal, sugarcane, and honey notes, complemented by citrus undertones. Aged for 2 years and 8 months, its aroma and palate intrigue with hints reminiscent of tropical fruits, spices, and herbal touches, but its intense alcoholic presence divides opinion. This distillation, while exhibiting youthful exuberance and potential, hints at further development with extended maturation. With only 558 bottles available, this limited-edition rum offers a unique profile that engages adventurous palates.

Edit: Tried again in TiPunch, therefore corrected upwards a little. All in all, a rum that you can drink. For me, better than expected. Although this type of rum doesn't really appeal to me straight. Nice to have tried, but the rest will end up in a TiPunch as a mixer, as I don't think the alcohol integration is all that successful.
Great stuff. Floral, grassy notes that suggest cachaca. But this ChalongBay has a character all of its own. The alcohol could be better integrated. Still totally awesome.
