The 2001 vintage from the South Pacific Distillery manages to pick me up time and again. Here, a very own dirty note (burnt plastic) meets deep spice, menthol, wood, fruit esters, a minimum of caramel and plenty of medicinal hints. Must be liked or tolerated, aromatically the whole thing is in any case almost breathtakingly complex and worth consciously engaging in each sip - there is simply much to discover. My rating is certainly also a little dependent on my personal preference for very complex rums; but the breadth of the flavor spectrum is simply impressive.

In the nose typical Fiji note. Very inviting. Then on the palate comes a real fireworks. Crazy! Excellent Fiji rum!

Big surprise of LMDW that this Fijian rum, which wants to be aromatic and complex to wish. We find in the nose the funk of the island with notes of olives, phenolic notes, menthol, tropical fruits, floral, vegetal and even empyreumatic notes with a touch of rubber. The attack on the palate is equally sumptuous with lots of fruit (citrus, dried and exotic fruits), floral notes and a hint of perfume, lots of spice, roasted notes, custard and caramel. The whole is rich, intense, complex, balanced and of a roundness without name. The finish is very long with fruity, spicy and phenolic notes. A real delight for the taste buds that takes us on vacation.

Im Cross Tasting mit dem TRC FIji 15yo und dem RC Fiji, knapp auf Platz zwei. Sehr schöne Nase. Auf der Zunge mir aber etwas zu brav :)

For me, very close to Isla del Ron Fiji 2001, which for me is still the Fiji reference.
