I'm Oliver – together with Jakob, Robert, and Lukas, we started RumX in 2018 as a small passion project in Stuttgart, back then under the name Rum Tasting Notes.
What began as a digital tasting diary is now the world's most comprehensive platform for rum fans: over 24,000 bottlings, 250,000+ independent reviews, and an active community with 47,000 members. We combine the collective intelligence of our community with an integrated marketplace, allowing you to shop securely and manage your collection directly from the app.
The goal? To offer you, the rum connoisseur, a place where you can choose with confidence—without paperwork, detours, or expert jargon.
A rum with a typical Port Mourant profile, which is very fruity and greedy on the nose, with yellow fruits and citrus, quite a bit of spices, chocolate, wood, caramel and some floral flavors to complete the olfactory profile. Conversely, the attack in the mouth is more floral, earthy, and vegetal, with some bitterness, leather, wood and spice. The fruits are more in the background, the whole is drier and more herbaceous. The finish is long, dominated by floral, tobacco and leather notes, spices and some fruity scents. A classic Guyana rum, and even if the wood did not mark too much the rum, the whole lacks depth to be more striking.
A fine specimen with a dying, uncolored habit. Very vegetal. Too bitter on the palate. I still prefer the caramelized versions, which bring a little roundness to the whole. If you like port mourant like this, you won't be disappointed, except for the price 😉
