This was the odd one out and also a huge surprise. Considering the price tag you get a lot for your money. I found out that it needed to rest for at least 15 minutes and at 30 minutes the flavours just come at you. Intense and fruity with nice spices and cane. I really like the floral note from nose to finish and even the empty glass was wonderful after a while. Loking forward to our S.B.S and Silver Seal tasting next week.

A Haitian rum with an atypical profile. We feel at first the woody and spicy aromas, then notes of candied fruits and sugar cane before a very long floral and vegetal salvo on medicinal and grassy notes. The influence of the Caroni cask is light but smoky aromas are also present. An original profile that goes in all directions. The palate concentrates once again the spicy, spicy and woody notes as well as the vegetal flavors of the sugar cane. We also discern notes of tobacco, coffee and nuts. The finish is quite long and reminds us of Caroni with its smoky, almost terpenic notes, as well as rubber. We also find the menthol which brings, with the sugar cane, a lot of freshness. Spices, herbs, wood and dried fruits finalize the aromatic bouquet.a nice first try for this young distillery, which takes advantage of the barrel especially on the finish. The quality / price ratio remains however questionable for a 3 years old rum.

So I can not quite understand the hype. Me too little Clairin character, perhaps by the Caroni barrel. But if I would at least taste the barrel only at all somehow out ... Unfortunately, absolute Fehlanzeige.Bin probably yet a peasant palate. 🤣🙈 And stay with my honest Clairins from Casimir. 😋😉

Hat wenig mit jungem wilden Clairin zu tun. Eher wie ein sehr junger Caroni ohne Ecken und Kanten. Gefällt mir sehr gut mit längerer Lagerung ist hier sicher noch viel mehr Luft nach oben. In der 2. Verkostung deutlich unausgereifter und unstimmiger. Abwertung auf 80 Punkte.

I really have to stop the clairins and rums from Haiti aged at velier with the marketing that goes with it... (Caroni cask, Muller stills, etc.). It's not really a style I like but I like them white though. This one is vegetal and spicy, super spicy in the mouth even. Very little complexity. Glad I tasted it but it confirms that these are really bottles I won't buy.

Überraschend wie viel caroni Einfluss hier nach nur 3 Jahren die Oberhand über den Haiti rum gewinnt! Schönes Ding! Tolle Komplexität. Leicht säuerlich fruchtig, dazu etwas Holz, verbranntes Gummi, Menthol und dunkle bittere Schokolade und Holzkohle mit verbranntem Rosmarin. Insgesamt könnte er mir aber dennoch etwas mehr Power haben und hat mir einen etwas zu kurzen Abgang. Insbesondere find ich knapp 100€ für einen 3y jungen rum aus Haiti (caroni Fass hin oder her) etwas überzogen...

I cannot taste Caroni here. I miss the typical fruity Haitian note. Perhaps the barrel has hidden the fruity tones.

Aging for 3 years leaves on one hand the fruity and vegetal note of the crystalline bleau cane and on the other takes a spicy and medicinal part derived from the caroni barrel!

Wirkt noch etwas unausgereift und ich bin mir nicht sicher ob das Caroni Fass hier der Weisheit letzter Schluss war. Potential ist definitiv vorhanden. Ich mochte den zuerst veröffentlichten weißen Rum dieser jungen Destillerie gern. Hier gefallen die blumige Nase und die fruchtigen Anklänge. Mit schöner Banane am Gaumen und im Finish einem interessanten Mix. Die Fassnoten kann man erkennen machen für mich den Rum aber nicht besser, hier ist sicher Potential für mehr.

The recent Haitian rums that hit the market are definitely not for me. All are too green/floral to my taste. It would be interesting though to taste these with a little more age as they are all quite young.

A rather successful rum despite its young age. It is close to an agricultural, it is not the ardor of a Clairin for example. I can't wait to see what this rum would give with an older ageing!

Für gerade mal drei Jahre eine mächtig fruchtig-gereifte Nase. Vor allem Banane tut sich hier hervor, in rund und weniger funky. Der Alkohol entpuppt sich nach zwei Minuten Luft schon als sehr schön eingebunden. 'Jung und wild' kann ich in der Nase nicht nachvollziehen, dafür ist hier schon zu viel Reife vorhanden. Kandierte/getrocknete Früchte, Zuckerrohr, Vanille & Würze und die erwähnte Banane bilden die Front in der Nase. Dahinter liegen zwei recht klare und eigenständige Lagen von Aromen. Einerseits grasig, blumig und frisch im Zuckerrohr, andererseits eine medizinisch mit (sehr leichten aber erkennbaren) Noten von Teer, Gummi und dunklem Holz. Das wird vermutlich das Fass sein - habe aber selbst zu wenig Caroni probiert um das eindeutig zu sagen. Süß-vanilliger Antritt dann am Gaumen, sofort gefolgt von den beiden erwähnten Richtungen die in der Nase eher hinten angestellt waren. Würze die direkt den Mund einnimmt, Süße verschwindet fast völlig und es wird holzig trocken. Relativ ölig in der Konsistenz. Nach und nach kommen die grüneren Aromen durch und warme Schärfe kontrastiert recht blumiges Zuckerrohr. Jeweils ein Hauch Menthol und Zitrusbittere. Langes, öliges Finish bei dem dann die Früchte dominieren, dabei ziemlich trocken und der Gummireifen fährt nochmal durch den Mund. Kein aufdringlicher Alkohol. Für drei Jahre im Fass und für mich als 'Anfänger' absolut beeindruckend. Könnte richtig spannend werden mit ein paar Jahren mehr im Fass, dürfte als Rum Old Fashioned regelrecht aufblühen.

The nose is nice and subtle, yet quite raw revealing the short age of this product. The barrel has had its influence though, leaving a woody and reasonably spicy mark. There’s saturated wood, followed by raw sugarcane, then vanillabean, peppermill and a light touch of ginger and licorice. It’s foremost flowery with hints of orange mint. Barely any room left for fruits, but there is pineapple juice and raw rhubarb to pick up. With a little imagination maybe even some petrol, or maybe that’s just me. Silky on the tongue and sweeter than expected. Still raw, young and perhaps a little volatile as a result. Mind you, the alcohol is integrated perfectly. Very little fruits. Flowers and spices take the spotlight once again, but the latter are less intense than on the nose. In fact, it has a beautiful, mellow integration as far as these flavours go. The finish is longer than expected, but still on the edge of short-to-medium. Sweet and vegetal with red rhubarb and sugarcane notes.

Fruit, flowers, slightly rubbery. I compared it with the golden Papalino and it tastes a little better. The Providence is smoother and not so dirty.
