How does this rum taste?
- Strong fruit aroma
- Limited release collector's item
- Intriguing Jamaican profile
The Rum Sponge Collection Antipodes is a distinctive Jamaican rum from Clarendon distillery, bottled by Decadent Drinks LTD. Distilled in 2007 from molasses and aged for 15 years, this rum presents a high ABV of 63%. Notable for its aromatics, users report dominant pineapple and green apple scents, with roasted and menthol undertones. Despite the enticing bouquet, the taste has garnered mixed reviews: some appreciate the Jamaican fruitiness and robust barrel notes, while others mention an overpowering chemical orange flavor and poorly integrated alcohol. This limited release is a unique collector's item with only 263 bottles available.

"Nose akin to other 2007s with tropical fruits, green apples adding menthol with some time in the glas. Very nice. Very distinct MM on the palate as well. I do miss some complexity, however. Nose was more promising than the delivery you get from sipping. All in all a very solid bottling, but not top of the range MM(W) in my book."
"31.12.2022 Our yearly New Year party where we try new rums mixed with the personal bests. Notes Light to medium dark in colour. Nose Fresh, light roasted wood, faint citrus, faint mint, light floral. Palate Light oily, light wood, fresh, fruits, warm, light citrus, light floral, light orange, faint mint, faint licorice. Finish Medium long, light wood, light ginger, light citrus, banana, faint medicinal, light chocolate."
"Le nez est d'abord chargé en esters. La banane et surtout l'ananas prennent vite le pas, accompagnés par un cote pâtissier et boisé. En bouche, on retrouve les marqueurs du nez. L'alcool est d'abord mordant puis s'adoucit avec un petit caramel qui arrondit le tout. Finale un peu plus amère et boisée mais sans excès."
"Spicy fruity without great recognition value .... not bad but nothing special... Alcohol could be better integrated."
