    Rum from Vietnam is not something you run into every day. I have been to Vietnam and tried their rums while there and I can say that the quality varies a lot. Most I'd say would probably do best in mixers. This rum however is doing very well in my mind. I like that in the freshness of the profile you can find cane and fruit. I do like the warm light dry finish.

    Mein erster Rum aus Vietnam, aber dennoch eine klare Sache: sehr ähnlich zu anderen ungelagerten, lange fermentierten Zuckerohrsaft-Destilaten, wie Clairin, Grand Arome, Mhoba High Ester usw. Nase: intensiv, vergoren, fruchtig, Honig-süß und vagatibel zugleich. Die Frucht ist nahe an Himbeere, das vegatible nahe an Kürbis und eingelegter Artischocke. Er bekommt auch ein leicht Joghurt-artige Note. Wird mit der Zeit noch süßer, wie Zuckersirup und ja, Himbeere wird eindeutiger. Gaumen: hier startet als erstes cremiger Joghurt. Dann wird er sofort kurz und intensiv salzig-bitter, bevor grasiges Zuckerrohr durchkommt. Geht dann auch in Richtung grüner Paprika und Anis. Etwas fruchtig ist er, kann aber nicht ausmachen, welche Frucht. Durchaus interessant, gerade auch durch die Joghurt-Note

    Zuerst einmal: ungelagerten Rum probiere ich immer gern. Wenn man den Grundstoff kennt, schmeckt und versteht, eröffnen sich für mich die gelagerten Produkte oft ganz anders. Aus Vietnam kenne ich bisher nur den Renaissance White Alligator, den ich sehr spannend fand. Ich könnte mir vorstellen, dass dieser Rum aus der selben Destillerie stammt, da ich auch hier spannende Ester und eine milchig-buttrige Note finde, die auf eine lange, vielleicht sogar wilde Vergörung hindeuten könnten. Dazu pflanzliche Assoziationen von Gras und Zuckerrohr, die wohl auf denselben als Grundstoff zurückzuführen sind. Nichts für den täglichen puren Genuss, aber wie bereits erwähnt spannend, um andere Produkte besser zu verstehen. Nicht zuletzt könnte er auch einen eher entspannten, aber guten Cocktail mixen!
