How does this rum taste?
Minoki Mizunara Japanese Rum is a unique creation produced in multiple countries with a 40% ABV. Highly intriguing for its use of Mizunara oak barrels, the rum's aroma captivates with notes of toffee and tobacco, accented by smoky and vanilla undertones. The tasting profile reveals a vanilla-forward flavor complemented by roasted, woody, and chocolate notes. While some users find it thin and lacking complexity, others appreciate the long-lasting dark chocolate finish. This rum is often used as a cocktail enhancer, replacing puertorican gold rum, adding a subtle, refined woody finish. Overall, users have mixed feelings, drawn to the Mizunara influence but desiring more depth.

I have to taste it again in peace and analyze it carefully. Still a positive surprise for 40%. Nice experiment with this cask, but unfortunately it seems a little thin. But thanks to Serge for letting me try another rum outside the range.
Very young, lots of vanillin from an apparently fresh Mizunara wooden barrel. Unfortunately a little flat, little taste of its own.
High hopes for this since I love mizunara casks in general. Super elegant finishes that seldomly disappointed. Unfortunately there is not much of this here to be found. I barely understand why this is even advertised as much. Still an okay expression
I'm actually a big mizunara fan, but here you can only find woody, acidic tones. Overall, it just seems a bit thin and flat with too many tannins. The alcohol is also not really well integrated. There is virtually nothing to be tasted here of the otherwise infamous mizunara barrel, which usually brings in lots of pepper, ginger and tropical spice and fruit notes. What a pity!
