How does this rum taste?
RumX members highlight bright mandarin and lemon-peel aromas over grassy cane and toasted wood in this Saint James 2010 selection by Velier (11 years, 47%). The palate shows woody, floral and citrus notes with tobacco nuances; several describe a long, dry, tea-like finish. Some reviewers detect a soapy/perfumed streak that divides opinion. Pleasant nose. But also again unusual soap associations on the palate.
This Saint James was definitely not Velier masterpiece. Just one common filling to co tinue the production.
8,2:On the nose, a lot of fruits with dried apricots, banana, citrus like mandarine and lime peel, peaches, pairing grassy sugar cane and roasted wood with allspice, is the first impression we get. On aeration, the fruits are candied, the cane herbaceous, vegetal with mushrooms, earthy with tobacco and flowery, perfumed, a bit mineral.Waxy, medicinal notes arise, stronger roasted notes with caramel, nuts, pastry, a hint of Maggi and red fruits. 8,2:On the palate, the attack is fruity with citrus fruits like lemon, then cherry and peaches, woody with roasted notes like caramel, nuts, coffee, spices like pepper and salt, as the cane is grassy, fresh with tea. Resting the rum helps raisins and lemon peel, chocolate and leather, pastry, flowery and herbaceous touch of cane, some soap. 8,1:The finish is long, dry and bitter with sugarcane honey, grassy and flowery, vegetal with black tea, tobacco, the fruits are yellow, as the wood roasted, smoky with dark chocolate, coffee, peppery...
Würzige Seife...wieder echt schlecht. :(
