How does this rum taste?
The Wagemut Home Base 2022, crafted at the Foursquare distillery in Barbados, boasts a distinctive profile with its aging of 10 years and 3 months. Distilled from molasses using pot and column still techniques and bottled at cask strength (54.7% ABV), this limited release of 1,253 bottles showcases a Madeira finish that imparts fruity, sweet, and slightly spicy notes. While users appreciate its fruity aroma and balanced sweetness, some find it slightly unbalanced with pronounced woody bitterness and alcoholic sharpness. Durchaus runde Sache mit Frucht und Süße. Die Foursquare Würzigkeit wird durch die Frucht etwas verdrängt und bleibt eher im Hintergrund.
Nr. 2 für heute. Ein sehr guter Rum. In der Nase eine leichte Süsse, geht Richtung Vanille. Im Gaumen dann ebenfalls eine schöne leichte Süsse, geht in Richtung Vanille und Karamell. Aber sehr leckerer Rum.
Das Madeira Finish hat dem Rum einen schönen weinig-würzigen Einschlag verpasst. Etwas zu bittere Holznoten verhindern eine bessere Benotung, Alkohol aber sehr sehr gut eingebunden und der Rum ein sehr schöner Sipper
Man bekommt hier einen 10-jährigen FS mit leckerem Madeira-Finish in Fassstärke zu einem mehr als fairen Preis. Das Finish ist gut bemerkbar, aber nicht überwaltigend. Der Rum bekommt dadurch einen fruchtigen Touch mit Trauben, Apfel und Kirschen an der Nase. In Mund sehr schokoladig und würziger Wein, mit leichter Honig oder teils Marzipannote. Könnte etwas runder, intensiver bzw. ein Stück komplexer sein, aber in Anbetracht des Preises ganz gut. Leider ist ab und zu eine alkoholisch stechender Beigeschmack vorhanden.
