An exotic one for me, a USA rum. The Balkones were already a positive surprise for me, let's see what this one can do... Nose: full and powerful on the attack. Has a good proportion of bourbon barrels. Also clearly vinegar at the beginning. Fruity and woody-spicy at the same time. The fruit is green plantain with dried apricot. It has quite full, spicy aromas of old Maggi with some vanilla and caramel sweetness. Plus leather and oak. I really like it and it actually has similarities to the Balkones. 8.2 Palate: there is also a clear hint of bourbon here. Bourbon can be heard here too. It has a heavy, slightly oily texture, clearly woody, but accompanied by bacony unami and leather. Nutty-sweet, perhaps tonka bean. Overall, not bad at all, even if it is a little too coarse. It would be really interesting to try this matured for longer... 7.8
Frank hat alles schon so stimmig beschrieben! Ich bin auf jeden Fall erstaunt wie gut er ist, weil ich keine Erwartungen hatte…
This obviously sat not so well for me as with others. Pretty standard American profile on the nose. And then there is just such a overboarding bitterness. That just really makes the experience unpleasant.
Interessantes Profil nach unreifer saurer Ananas, Leder, kandiertem Ingwer und relativ viel Holz. Alkohol könnte deutlich besser integriert sein.
