Duncan Taylor Hampden Quarterdeck Single Cask Jamaica Rum 2009
Highly praised as a balanced, fruit-forward Hampden DOK with a funky nose, mellowed esters and very easy drinking character at 50.8%—more relaxed than the usual Hampden powerhouse.
Fans of Jamaican funk who want a gentler, well-balanced DOK with tropical fruit, light brine and manageable cask strength rather than a face-melting ester bomb.

Despite dilution high level!
Tasted on the Whisky and Rum festival 2022. IJmuiden. www.zeewijck.nl Pretty funky Hampden. Def above LROK. Around <>H. Nose more funky than the taste. Might have sat in a Scotch cask. Just a whiff of peat present. A bit atypical for Hampden. Great balance between funk/fruit/wood and spices.
This is in parts a really weird DOK. I dont think i get overly Esters, more so actually the cask. The esters have mellowd and blindly i have never wouldve guessed DOK. A not so great bottle i was not completely sorry to see go with this tasting.
In the nose full DOK aroma. In the mouth a bit of disillusionment, in my eyes too strongly diluted. But especially with the DOK one is just used to full hut of ABV. As an entry into the DOK world but recommendable, only a bit expensive for it.
