How does this rum taste?
Most are blown away by its concentrated smoky-tobacco depth and old Demerara character. Critics find the peat, bitterness and tannins too dominant. Consensus: a polarizing, world‑class, Islay‑leaning rum.
If you enjoy old Port Mourant and peaty Islay malts, this is a bucket‑list crossover: incredibly concentrated, smoky and leathery—but it will overwhelm anyone not already into that style.
Beginners, those sensitive to high ABV, or drinkers who dislike peat, heavy smoke, earthiness and pronounced wood bitterness in their rum.

Heavy and dark Guyana flavors, wood, licorice with a toch of maggi. An intoxicating perfume. A touch of bitterness. No astringency. Perfect balance. Perfect rum to celebrate our engagement. What a moment in life 😍 @Dr.Django thanks for the tasting opportunity 💍❤️🥃 31/10/24: Some tobacco and rubber (in the best way) menthol associations in the finish.
A wonderful rum and I'm happy to have a backup bottle on my shelf. Wonderfully balanced and full bodied, if you get the chance give it a go.
Amazing nose with a perfect balance between round and bitter notes. Unfortunately, palate is way more bitterish and feels a bit unbalanced. A pitty for such legendary rum. Not a bad one though and I'm still very happy I tasted such legend.
