How does this rum taste?
- Very prominent Islay finish
- Senteurs et des saveurs fumées type barbecue
- Light wood, faint caramel, light smoke
On the nose, the Islay cask finish leads, pushing out earthy smoke, peat, and woody touches. Drinkers agree the smoky, peaty influence is impossible to miss—"very prominent Islay finish. It's okay but not mindblowing" (@Rowald Sweet Empire). For some, this whisky-forward character works, but others feel "il emporte tout et ne laisse que de places aux fruits d'habitude si agréables" (@Vincent D). There's just enough citrus and subtle fruit in the background to add some lift, but the peat and smoke are the stars.
