How does this rum taste?
The New Grove Savoir-Faire Distillerie du Vercors rum is crafted in Mauritius by Grays distillery, combining 8 years of mature aging with a whisky cask finish. Its aromatic profile includes woody, citrus, and raisin notes, while the taste leans toward pronounced orange, tannins, and caramel nuances. Users have highlighted its unique interplay of oak and subtle smoky undertones. However, the dilution seems to impact its depth, with some reviewers suggesting it could benefit from a less diluted version. Enjoy this limited edition release, with only 1500 bottles available, for an intriguing blend of rum and whisky characteristics.

I'm Oliver – together with Jakob, Robert, and Lukas, we started RumX in 2018 as a small passion project in Stuttgart, back then under the name Rum Tasting Notes.
What began as a digital tasting diary is now the world's most comprehensive platform for rum fans: over 24,000 bottlings, 250,000+ independent reviews, and an active community with 46,000 members. We combine the collective intelligence of our community with an integrated marketplace, allowing you to shop securely and manage your collection directly from the app.
The goal? To offer you, the rum connoisseur, a place where you can choose with confidence—without paperwork, detours, or expert jargon.
#4953 Whisky Live in Paris 27.09.2024-30.09.2024. Another great event meeting a lot of RumX new and old friends. This year three weren't as many new releases as in 2023, but I still had a great time. Nose Light, fresh, light wood, dried fruit, light close, faint caramel, faint smoke, faint melon. Palate Oily, fresh, light, light bitter, light herbal, spice, sweet, spicy, light caramel, dried fruit, light smoke. Finish Medium long, light wood, light smoke, raisin, light orange, spice, medium dry, light herbal.
A somewhat oaky New Grove. French/US (virgin) oak combination of flavours. Some PX/Red Wine/Dried fruits and lots of cherry. Not so very whisky-y but the oak might have something to do with that. Not the best N.G. but very decent still. Retry: still very decent stuff.
