The "Jamaica Rum" was produced in Jamaica. It was selected and bottled by the independent bottler Gregarious Grump Spirits. It was distilled in 2006 from Molasses and then aged for 15 years. NOSE: slightly musky, perfumed, some nice deep dry oak. PALATE: a plethora of rich spices. Sandalwood, demerara sugar, rich simple syrup, pear. FINISH: butter-sweet tannins lay on your tongue, while rich spices dance to the roof of your palate. Black pepper, burnt oak, pine pitch. A bit raw on the throat. OVERALL: this pour is really all about the oak. Not getting much character from the base spirit. That said, if you enjoy rich spice character & oak tannins, this may appeal to you. For my money, it’s just too oak-dominant. RATING: 68/100
