How does this rum taste?
- Highly aromatic and flavorful
- Complex ester-rich profile
- Well-integrated alcohol presence
The Flensburg Rum Company Jamaica Rum HD C<>CH, produced at Jamaica's Hampden distillery, is known for its high ester content and intense aromatic presence. Distilled from molasses in 2007 and aged for 15 years, its cask strength of 60.66% ABV offers a powerful experience. Users predominantly note a bold combination of mandarin, tropical fruit, pineapple, and esters with underlying sherry influences from its finish. The rum has drawn mixed opinions regarding its sherry finish, appreciated by some for adding complexity, while others feel it overshadows the signature Hampden profile. As a limited edition with only 116 bottles, it remains a compelling choice for enthusiasts of high ester Jamaican rums.

"Another combination that can go well: high ester and sherry. Let's see how this one is. ABV is right, the dark color is probably also due to the PX.Nose: intense esters with sweet and sour pineapple are immediately present. Behind that, however, I immediately detect the PX finish with its sweet-woody-smoky aromas. A slight lemon freshness and a vinegar note are just as there as marzipan and resinous wood. Pleasant and balanced.Palate: there must have been some PX in the barrel. Because you almost have it here before the esters. Sweetish sherry, almost brandy. Sweetish-sour, woody-smoky. Something like rum-raisin with pineapple. Alcohol is quite well integrated.Sherry and pineapple with a slight smoky note in the finish.Good drinkable, but for me too much sherry on the palate."

"Very good rum! Not on the same level as the previous one and the impact of the Sherry cask make it worsen in direct comparsion to the GRF 10 version. The alcohol is integrated much better(during the sherry cask), but the finish is shorter."

"for comparison again the 'original' Flens JMC HD 2007/12 rausgeramt. First impression: The PX finish and the high Esters on the R"

"So here is number 3 of the C<>H from Flensburg. That he does not rank kommt to number 1, was actually clear, but also to number 2 (GRF 21), which represents the other of the barrel, the distance is large. I'm generally not a fan of finishes and just sherry usually scares me off and so I find myself confirmed again here. Despite a dark note that is unusual for Hampden Wher, the nose seems rather dull and not very brute, as one is used to with C<>H. The palate confirms the marque with some positive associations, but delivers little in sum. Comparatively thin, well-behaved or just dull again and thus below the quality of its brethren. Here, the finish adds nothing, but suppresses corners and edges, which one looks for in such bottling as a nerd ..."
