How does this rum taste?
The Belize MBT from Travellers distillery, selected by The Rum Cask, is a high-proof rum distilled in 2006 and aged for 16 years. With a potent 62.3% ABV, it offers a complex aroma of vanilla, roasted notes, and subtle coconut. Tasting reveals roasted and spicy notes with hints of sweet espresso and allspice. While some users appreciate its depth and unique vegetable-root undertones, others find the alcohol presence pronounced, overshadowing some nuanced flavors. Generally regarded as a robust drink, it requires adequate time in the glass to release its full aroma and balance its spicy finish.

Der Rum braucht viel Zeit im Glas, damit er sein volles Aroma entfalten kann. Die Nase ist recht komplex. Früchte, Vanille,Schokolade und ein Hauch Minze. Der Geschmack ist leicht süßlich mit einer gewissen alk. Schärfe, gefolgt von Espresso, Piment und leichten Fasseinschlag. Der Abgang ist mittel, etwas Schärfe, Fass und Lakritze.
Anfangs ziemlich verhalten, nach einiger Zeit im Glas öffnet er sich.. Kokosnuss, Vanille, Melasse; aber auch eine pflanzliche leicht modrige/wurzelige Note zeigt sich. Am Gaumen zuerst eine schwere Süße, die aber schnell ins würzig röstige und scharfe wechselt! Eine feine Note von Sauerkirsche mischt mit! Der Alkohol ist nicht so gut eingebunden, was den Rum hinten raus etwas scharf wirken lässt. Der Abgang ist relativ kurz, Noten von mokka, Kräutern und echtem Lakritz , Ein guter Belize
Der Geruch war wirklich beeindruckend. Hat sogar was von Karotte und Petersilienwurzel gehabt. Was ich bisher in noch keinem rum jemals zuvor gerochen habe. Der Geschmack war dann schön intensiv nach Gebäck und Kokos
