"Clearly milder and more drinkable than the 11y old without finish. The additional 20 months in the Armagnac finish have softened the rum perfectly and taken him some of the edges. The 11y is clearly more funky and intense, this one is clearly more harmonious but still with enough power. Exciting are the light peachy / apricot notes with eucalyptus and dark chocolate with cappuccino, cinnamon, nutmeg and nuts, as well as some lemon zest and at the very end comes back to me the characteristic menthol / grapefruit peel note. I also like very well, almost a little better depending on the mood!😁🥳Anyway, both bottlings are imho absolute Mauritius Gray's benchmarks!👌🏽"
"This is my first Mauritius molasses session, after having tasted it yesterday. A direct comparison of the Savoir Faire 2009 for LMDW, the Savoir Faire 2010 for LMDW and the CDI 2009 13 yo for Perola. The profile of the Perola CDI and the LMDW are very similar, but the differences are clearly perceptible. Here, too, we have the peach iced tea reminiscent of TDL, plus wood and a slight toastiness. The CDI is somewhat lighter, somewhat flatter. More citrus fruits, less coconut chocolate. At 53.1, it is extremely relaxed to drink, alcohol is barely noticeable. The fruit remains very present in the mouth and is still fresh and ripe instead of dried. That's pretty cool. The mouth is reminiscent of the Cadenhead TDL 2002 (Mango eau de vie), which may also be due to the light mint. The finish is just as fruity as the mouth, but it is accompanied by a very tart herbal note that I can hardly pinpoint. A very long-lasting citric acidity remains. The 2010 LMDW is the best of my three rounds, the intensity in the mouth more than makes up for the restraint in the nose. Alcohol integration, balance, complexity all top. The 2009 is very, very close on its heels. The old apricot and the greater complexity are particularly convincing here, but the slight bite costs a few points. Perhaps the difference is more a matter of form on the day than taste. The CDI is already very good, but falls a little short. It is lighter and therefore too far on the fruity side."
"Gefällt mir sehr gut! Durch die Minznoten würde ich ihn blind wahrscheinlich bei TDL einordnen. Sehr spannend!"
"The farmer's palate says:Clearly softer than his little, untamed eleven-year-old brother. The latter's powerful performance is nevertheless a tad more pleasing.Genial pair of brothers."
