This 25-year-old delight was distilled in 1997 from molasses and boasts a cask strength of 64.5% ABV. With only 132 bottles in existence, this limited release was selected and bottled by the independent bottler, The Colours of Rum. Users appreciate its intense and characteristic flavor profile, including notes of vanilla, leather, rubber, and a smoky touch. The aroma features an alcoholic, vanilla, leather, varnish, and rubber profile. Some users did find the alcohol to be dominant, but most enjoyed the creamy, sweet and dirty associations on the palate. “This one was a bit disappointing and I had expected more from a Caroni this age. The Caroni notes are there but very weak. The ABV on the other hand is there and very dominant. It didn't settle down until 45+ minutes and then it still wasn't all there yet. I do like the smoky touch.”

“On the nose, the alcohol is a bit too present. On the palate, however, one is rewarded with creamy, sweet-dirty associations. Beautiful 1997 Caroni. After 30 minutes under the glass lid, the alcoholic spiciness on the nose fades, but is still present.”

“The 1997 Caronis are characterized by a rather concise reflection of the usual rubber and tar notes. In addition, there is also a strong impact of wood, spices, leather and licorice.
