"This one was a bit disappointing and I had expected more from a Caroni this age. The Caroni notes are there but very weak. The ABV on the other hand is there and very dominant. It didn't settle down until 45+ minutes and then it still wasn't all there yet. I do like the smoky touch."
"On the nose, the alcohol is a bit too present. On the palate, however, one is rewarded with creamy, sweet-dirty associations. Beautiful 1997 Caroni. After 30 minutes under the glass lid, the alcoholic spiciness on the nose fades, but is still present."
"The 1997 Caronis are characterized by a rather concise reflection of the usual rubber and tar notes. In addition, there is also a strong impact of wood, spices, leather and licorice. Minimal sweetness from subtle dried fruit that reminds me of raisins. Overall, already very dry and tart - Caroni in the taste extreme."
"Alcohol could be better integrated."
