How does this rum taste?
Dry, citrusy Port Mourant classic
If you enjoy drier, continental Port Mourant like other 2003 Diamonds, this is a solid pick—classic citrus, wood and dried fruit once you give it some time to open up.
Those sensitive to higher ABV, expecting heavy sweetness or big viscosity, or newcomers used to soft, rounded El Dorado-style Guyana rums.

CoR tasting, Rum Club Switzerland. A woody but fresh nose. Dried fruit and prune, oak, nice acidity and like herbal candy. A touch of caramel toffee and fresh tropical fruit. Smokiness on the palate, which we didn't sense much on the nose. Oak and freshness, fresh fruit but above all dried fruit and, as on the nose, a slightly nauseating toffee. The finish is short, although the acidity and oakiness linger for a long time. A rum with good drinkability and an interesting, rather complex profile.
Another sample tasting…. Tasted this right off the back of the El Dorado 12 Year Old and wow I MUCH prefer the El Dorado 12 This reminds me of a 16YO Arran Whisky Single Cask that was matured in what I suspected was a Manzanilla Cask - sharp, alcohol bite-y with a sharp citrus and literally nothing else Quite harsh as well - can’t tell if the cask has killed the liquid and/or the quality isn’t there. No flavour, no aroma, no complexity 2.5/10
Not too bad but I would have loved more bang for your buck. Fruit and spices on a base of light roasted wood. I like the marzipan at the end of the palate.
Solid Versailles profile.
