Summary
The No.18 SVL is a limited release 18-year-old rum from Guyana, bottled at cask strength with an ABV of 55.4%. It has a nose of woody, spicy and fruity notes with toffee, tobacco and vanilla. On the palate it is creamy and chocolatey with nutty notes, dried apricot and banana in the background. It is well balanced but lacks a bit of refinement.

Nase: holzig-würzig und doch fruchtig-frisch. Süße und saure Zitrone mit Orangen-Sirup und Papaya. Dazu die Süße von Toffee. Dahinter Tabak und Vanille und eine leicht künstliche Essenz von Politur. Der Alkohol sticht ein wenig. Insgesamt ist die Nase ein wenig verhalten. Gaumen: der Alkohol aus der Nase ist am Gaumen nicht mehr zu vernehmen. Er wirkt richtig weich und cremig, schokoladig und nussig. Erinnert auch stark an süße, weiche Lakritz. Hinten wird er etwas bitter und Süßholziger. Lecker und fast schon süffig… Der ist mal interessant, da Nase und Gaumen doch unterschiedlich sind (Gaumen hier mal besser!). Sehr lecker.

Süffiges Profil mit schwerer Melasse-Süsse gepaart mit Holzaromen aus dem Eichenfass, dazu eingekochte rote Früchte, zitrische Noten sowie Vanille und etwas dunkle Schokolade. Gut ausbalanciert und angenehm zu trinken - die Früchte bringen nochmal eine neue Nuance ein, wobei mir schlussendlich ein wenig die letzte Raffinesse fehlt. Trotzdem ein sehr guter 2003er Diamond.

Dieser Rum ist 18 Jahre alt und damit noch nicht überholzt. Hier dominieren gefällige Noten von Vanille, Schokolade und Haselnuss als Kräuter und Bleistift, wie man es manchmal von Vertretern aus Uitvlugt, Port Mourant, Enmore und Co kennt. Der Alkohol (55,4 Prozent) ist nicht perfekt integriert, aber der Rum ist dennoch prima trinkbar. Ein sehr gefälliger Rum aus Guyana, jedoch ohne echte Highlights.

My second Guyana from Nobilis and I liked it quite a bit. Their Guyana bottlings are right up my alley, so much that I just ordered the Diamond 2002, looking forward to try it.
