How does this rum taste?
The 2002 Trinidad Rum, crafted at T.D.L distillery and bottled by The Wild Parrot, is an intriguing blend of herbaceous and fruity aromas—lime, varnish, papaya—paired with tobacco, chocolate, and roasted flavors. This 20-year-aged rum, at a cask strength of 59.1% ABV, captures a balance between citrus, spices, and dark woodiness. It has been praised for its complex profile, with notes of passion fruit and tropical vibes, yet some find its herbal intensity akin to medicinal. Overall, the rich, layered complexity offers an unforgettable tasting journey, often drawing comparisons to other well-regarded Trinidian rums.

An impressive nose of flowers and fruit. An incredible floral bomb, very elegant, like a top-of-the-range gin! Not too much wood, a rum with finesse, atypical and highly original, a real discovery!
Too herbaceous, a rum, a medicinal or herbal bitter? It's very Branca mint, definitely not my rum
A bewitching nose of passion fruit, candied fruit and citrus, with a light varnish. The palate is full-bodied from the start, with maracuja (passion fruit), white chocolate and spices. The finish is long and finishes on fruit with a slight woody bitterness. An absolutely delicious rum, surprisingly marked by passion fruit, with this light acidity and deep fruit. You feel transported to a tropical orchard. The empty glass is marked by wood and a slight smokiness, but the whole is perfectly balanced. Delicious!
Beautiful TDL, with well-balanced facets. Thanks Philippe for the sample!
