How does this rum taste?
- Alcohol really well integrated for the young age
- Esters, fruit and PX very present
- Very nice rum
On the nose this young New Yarmouth shows bold esters, glue, and nail polish, with fruit—especially cherry—overtones that keep recurring in reviews. In the mouth, a wave of esters and fruity notes jostle with cinnamon, PX influences, and solvents, making for a profile many call 'very nice rum' (Galli33) or 'boosted aux hormones et aux esters' (TheRhumhoe). Some find the PX cask finish dominant, while others appreciate the sherried dimension. Integration of alcohol is surprisingly smooth for its age, though opinions differ on whether the finishing enhances or distracts from the classic Jamaican funk. Expect a jammy, estery experience that's intense and layered even at just two years old.

"A New Yarmouth boosted by hormones and esters. Nail polish, glue and alcohol (wine) come in full force, hiding very ripe fruit (pineapple, banana, cherry), spices (chili, pepper) and pastry notes (caramel) that come later. A rich, opulent SBS that gains strength with age. The attack on the palate is intense, funky and full-bodied, with beautiful phenolic notes (esters, glue, solvents, nail polish). The fruit is ripe and very present, notably exotic fruit and cherry. Despite this heaviness, a slight sweetness emerges on caramel, marzipan, pastry, spices (chili, vanilla) and wine. The alcohol is very well integrated into this fat, generous profile. The finish is long, dried out by alcoholic, phenolic and tannic notes. Spices, wood and roasted notes are more pronounced. The fruit is ripe, darker and red (cherry). The vinous side also emerges at the very end of the palate. A very pretty bottling, young and experimental, mouthwatering and opulent to the max."
"This one is really good and the ABV has been integrated really well. Once rested you barely get the 58.3%. Fresh and fruity with light cinnamon and lovely wood. Kind of sweet on the palate."
"Very nice rum. Didn‘t like the PX finish."
"Wonderful nose with hints of cola and mint. In the mouth you can tell it's a bit younger, but very tasty and fruity with some tea, and of course ester. The finish is also great, there comes through some menthol, accompanied by a fruity note. For me one of the highlights of this year!"
