“I have tried a lot of these Extreme versions and they mostly perform really well. This one does too. Fruity with nice smoky wood. The palate is warm and the ABV is perfectly integrated in my mind. Leave to rest for a while before having a go to release all the flavours. The empty glass has the most wonderful aromas 😊”

“I didn't like the continental-aged 2000 Rockley from RA at all: tar, grain and rotting fish. It was too much for me. This tropically aged 2000 'Vulcan Still' rum does have similarities, but runs on a completely different quality level. A vegetal smokiness jumps out at me, reminiscent of green tea, saffron and toasted sesame seeds, along with an incredible sweetness and fruitiness. The vegetal, tart smokiness continues in the mouth as well - with a cereal note reminiscent of whiskey. There's also creme brulee: buttery, vanilla, caramel. The mouthfeel is perhaps a bit thin, but wonderfully balanced and very complex in its combination of sweetness and herbal. Somewhat reminiscent of the 2004 Fijis. The finish is unfortunately somewhat unspectacular and short.”

“Follow-up to yesterday's Rum Depot Tasting: the rest of the Plantation poured in comparison with the Cave Guildive WIRD 2000. Both with a smoky-peaty undertone, plus the Rockley honey note. With the Plantation, however, I still have fruity notes towards nectarine or mango and vanilla. The CG, on the other hand, seems a bit more one-dimensional and also a bit biting. The higher ABV (56%) of the CG does not work to its advantage. On the palate, the signs are reversed. The Plantation with its 47.8% unfortunately seems a bit thin (just like the RA WIRD 2000). Because of the class nose, however, the Plantation remains my winner”
