Nobilis South Pacific No. 16 2004 17yr 61,1%
Introducing the No. 16, a limited release rum from the South Pacific Distillery in Fiji, selected and bottled by the independent bottler, Nobilis Rum. Distilled in 2004 from Molasses with a Pot Still, this rum has been aged for 17 years, bottled at a cask strength with an ABV of 61.1%, and limited to just 218 bottles. Combining notes of tropical fruit, solvents, and caramel on the nose, while offering flavors of dark chocolate, spicy, roasted, and dried fruit on the palate. Users find this rum well balanced with natural sweetness and unique flavors, though not being a typical Fijian rum, and some believe it leans more towards the Barbadian style. Overall, No. 16 is considered a good rum but may not be for everyone due to its uncharacteristic Fiji profile.

“This is not your typical Fiji rum but a very nice sidestep. Really well balanced and with natural sweetness, fruit and lovely toffee. I can see why they chose this cask because of the balance and the uniqueness of flavours.”

“Hmm, where are the esters? Not very typical nose for Fiji. On the palate round and spicy with slight sweetness, but also quite strong alcoholic. The transition to the finish is dominated by wood and coffee and fades quite quickly.Good rum but I expected more.”

“Auch hier: nix Fiji. Eher in Richtung Foursquare. Im Mund ist er mir zu scharf aber grundsätzlich passt mir der Rum ganz gut. Die Frage ist halt, wieso soll ich einen Fiji Rum kaufen der dann eher die Charakteristikas von Barbados aufweist und nicht gleich einen solchen kaufen. Dennoch feiner Rum.”
