How does this rum taste?
- Complex flavor profile
- High-quality aging
- Accessible price-quality ratio
The Nectar of the Daily Drams by Caroni Distillery, bottled by The Nectar, presents a refined Trinidadian rum experience. Distilled from molasses in 1998 and aged 23 years, this rum offers a complex profile with woody, tobacco, and leather notes. Its high 59% ABV adds to the intensity, while hints of vanilla, citrus, and dried fruits enhance the aroma and palate. Users appreciate its less traditionally "dirty" Caroni character, providing an accessible yet sophisticated tasting experience. Some noted the astringency and mild bitterness, but the harmonious blend of flavors and appealing bouquet make this offering a compelling choice for connoisseurs seeking depth and character in fine rum.

"Got a box of The Nectar samples a few weeks back. Just didn't have the time to add then until today. Later today I will attend a Nobilis tasting downtown and I look forward to that. This is a pretty decent Caroni actually and the price to quality is also OK. Not a super dirty Caroni but nice."
"Nose of a greediness to fall. It's sweet and powerful, woody but fruity, with glue and very light tar.In the mouth, it's earthy: leather, tobacco, candied fruits. Astringent just as it should be. A slight bitterness (not the most pleasant). A spicy, green pepper sensation. The wood is also very present.Finish not so long finally, with always the tobacco and the leather which fade for a cold, bitter and drying espresso. It is nevertheless a very particular profile. And very good."
"Haaa, the nose is coming together. This is different from traditional Caroni! This has an incredible sweetness to it. Woody/spicy but fruity at the same time. All encompassed by the typical hydrocarbons of the distillery but in lesser measure than usual. It is promising... In the mouth, it is woody. Woody smoked-toasted even! There are plum, raisins, tobacco, mango in the background. The finish is shorter than my Caroni references on leather with a slight astringent note. I really liked this sweetness and greediness but fans of heavy Caroni might be disappointed!"
"Nose: floral, pastry, a hint of acidity, very very lightly grimy but not at all prominentMouth: fruity and woody astringent at the beginning of the mouth, then a roasted, cocoa side takes over. The finish is consistent with the mouth. Frankly sympathetic, lacks a touch of greediness"
