„Erstaunlich frische Nase für das hohe Alter. Die Fruchtnoten rücken am Gaumen aber mit zunehmender Länge in den Hintergrund, dafür kommt eine schöne Süsse und etwas mehr Holzeinschlag zum Vorschein - dabei kippt der Rum aber keinesfalls in zu bittere Sphären. Leider fehlt mir insgesamt aber ein wenig die aromatische Raffinesse, weshalb am Ende ein zwar sehr leckerer Rum im Glas bleibt, der sich aber nicht ganz in die absolute Topliga einreihen kann.“

„An der Nase eine vergorene Mango mit Tendenz ins säuerliche! Das passt zum LP! Am Gaumen verteilt er sich leicht und dünn, anfangs mit einer Süße von Milchscholade und gebranntem Zucker, nach und nach gesellen sich Kräuter und Gewürze dazu! Alles nicht sehr intensiv…Frucht nehme ich so gut wie gar nicht mehr wahr. Der Abgang setzt anfangs diese Aromen fort, später erscheint noch einmal Trockenobst in Form von getrockneten Aprikosen! Ein gefälliger Rum, der trotz seines Alters wenig Holz aufweist! Insgesamt bietet er aber zu wenig um in die Top-Liga aufzusteigen“

„Insgesamt hohe Qualität! Am Anfang diskrete, schöne Fruchtnoten, die aber doch schnell weg sind. Im Mittelteil etwas dünn, Abgang schon lang aber adstringierend, etwas bitter. Insgesamt ein easy sipper, der schön komplex ist, aber nicht überfordert.“

„Ein spezieller Tropfen. Die Nase ist wundervoll, erstaundlich frisch. Man riecht das Alter dennoch. Er hat Ausstrahlung, Charakter mit Niveau. Ähnlich dem im Adventskalander probierten 1970er Clement, nicht geschmacklich aber vom Eindruck. Der Rum macht sehr viel Spass zu trinken. Wunderbar vielseitig, extrem viel zu entdecken. Der Abgang ist leider doch sehr abprupt verschwunden. Mehr Volumen hätten ihn bestimmt zu was ganz Besonderem gemacht. Wie beim Kaiman stört mich das aber nicht sehr.“

„Dieser jamaikanische Rum stammt aus dem Jahr 1985 und ist somit 37 Jahre alt. Gebrannt wurde er aus Melasse auf einer Pot Still, abgefüllt wurde er mit 49,5%. Das Aromenspiel überrascht mich: Ich finde die typischen Noten von Früchten wie Banane, Limette, Mango, Ananas. Vor allem aber eine unglaubliche Süße. Diese ist so ausgeprägt, dass ich fast davon ausgegangen wäre, der Rum sei gesüßt, wenn man es nicht besser wüsste. Insgesamt ist der Rum dennoch etwas dünn, denn außer Früchten und Süße gibt es da nicht viel zu entdecken. Schade, denn so geht es über eine Bewertung in den niedrigen 80ern nicht hinaus.“

„Auch wenn ich kein Freund von Rums der Long-Pond-Destillerie bin, muss ich diesen Rum doch positiv erwähnen. Er hinterlässt einen milden Gesamteindruck, ist ein Gaumenschmeichler, aber eben auch keine Ecken und Kanten, an denen man ihn wiedererkennen würde. Blind verkostet hätte ich ihn auch für einen Rum halten können, der nur ein Zehntel des Releasepreises kostet. (Ich weiß, ich habe keine Ahnung. 😉) Erstaunlich, dass man das Fass nach 37 Jahren kaum herausschmeckt.“

„beautiful LP nose with tropical fruit (mango) and this fermented, slightly tending towards vinegar. On the palate barrel, and toasty notes. Unfortunately a bit thin despite the 49.5%. Otherwise, a few more points would have been in it.“

„Premier rhum de ce type pour moi, je n'ai pas encore goûté de référence qui me permettent de le comparer. Dans tous les cas ça été une bonne expérience et je l'ai trouvé vraiment très bon. Tout passait très bien.“

„Erstaunlich wenig Holz und Bitterkeit nach 37 Jahren. Dafür sehr viel Süße, die ich teilweise schon als penetrant empfand. Es kommen aber auch schöne Fruchtnoten Richtung Mango durch und im Abgang eineangenehme Holznote.“
