Savanna 2022 Limited Edition HERR

Looking at the price tag you get a lot for your money in this one as well. Very fresh and fruity from opening the bottle and warm on the palate with some ester. I have tried a few HERR and this one is not fully up to par with the average. The 2019 is still my personal favourite ☺️

Joke of the day. Mix of a cheap fruit sweet and toilet cleaner. I particularly disliked the detergent finish… 😱 Sample bottle was reused, so the label is wrong.

Unfortunately, I don't like the new batch at all. I let it breathe for over an hour, but in direct comparison with the old Savanna Herr 57% or 62.5%, the typical pineapple gummy bear and general fruit power is almost gone. The ice candies are still there, but otherwise it has a very vegetable and fresh profile. Too bad. But there are several years in between and this shows just how much terroir and time can influence the taste of a rum that has not been produced for several years, as I learned in an interview with Noelle Traxel at the GRF 2022. Unfortunately, it is also disappointing for me in a daiquiri :(

This is the unmatured mature older brother of the old 57 versions. There are old flavours that really are gorgeous. I find this a huge improvement to the one before and mich more drinkable than the habitation

high diversity of esters, rather than high ester level

LORD is trump 😅 I stand on it ... Fat Fruity Fat Ester....that actually says it all.... Absolute bringer in cocktails ala Daiquiri and Co.

Typical HERR aromatics, but unfortunately not as aromatic as the Velier, seems thinner.

I like these HERR bottlings, but this is one of the weaker ones for me. It's more on the herbal side and the fruit takes a back seat. Habitation Velier remains the reference for me here. Nonetheless, a good bottling, but more for mixing

Perhaps not quite as intense as the old batches

Very intense but not unpleasant. Taste hard to describe, Long lasting flavor. A rum that remains in the memory and is not comparable

Un Savanna bien charnu avec une belle palette aromatique. Le nez nous plonge tout de suite dans le vif du sujet avec un côté high ester typique de chez Savanna : olive, basilic, piment, notes terreuses et végétales, épices, notes médicinales, esters, polish, colle mais aussi fruits tropicaux mûrs et fermentés donnent à ce profil un côté funky, concentré mais pas agressif. En bouche, le mark HERR prend le dessus avec des notes chimiques et synthétiques sur le bonbon arlequin, rappelant certains fruits rouges et exotiques (fraise, ananas). Le côté mûr, voir fermenté, se fait plus présent avec des notes phénoliques et médicinales assez marquées. De prime abord, ce Savanna paraît écœurant en quelques gorgées, mais au fur et à mesure qu’il s’ouvre, les notes végétales, florales et herbacées donnent une touche de fraîcheur bienvenue en bouche. L’alcool est plutôt bien intégré. La finale paraît cependant assez courte, mais reste intense sur les fruits très mûrs aux arômes chimiques, les notes médicinales et cette touche herbacée, végétale et fraîche qui adoucit l’ensemble. L’olive est particulièrement présente ici. Un profil non vieilli avec un joli potentiel, dont il serait curieux de goûter une version vieillie afin d’en tirer pleinement toutes les capacités qu’il a offrir.

Wider ein schöner Savanna Herr. In der Nase auf jeden Fall sehr frisch. Olive sticht hier auf jeden Fall hervor. Außerdem ist Ester erkennbar. Am Gaumen auch viel Olive und Ester, Savanna typisch sehr pflanzlich und funky. Aber sehr gut.

Un rhum goûté au Rum and Gin Festival à Lucerne. Le nez est vif sans être aggressif, un curieux mélange d’olive et d’ananas bien mûr avec de la fraîcheur qui peut rappeler le concombre. La bouche est vive, fraîche sur le menthol avec aussi de l’ananas et de l’olive. La finale est courte mais de l’ananas reste très longtemps en bouche. J’imagine un bar de plage tropical avec tout pour préparer des cocktails rafraîchissants et un marchand ambulant d’ananas très mûrs à côté.
