How does this rum taste?
- Distinctive fruity profile
- Well integrated wood notes
- Balanced alcohol strength
The "Australia" rum from Beenleigh distillery, bottled by Transcontinental Rum Line, offers a distinctive profile that has captivated enthusiasts. This 7-year pot still rum is crafted from molasses, aged with a bourbon cask influence, and carries a 48% ABV. Notable for its pear, butterscotch, and young wood aromas, it boasts flavors of barrel, herbal notes, and subtle spice. While some find the alcohol integration could be better, others appreciate its fruited and buttery qualities, comparing it to a traditional English Harbour Antigua. This rum’s character aligns with the preferences of those who enjoy dry, non-sugary rums, featuring individual profiles that emphasize evolution over time, particularly when left to breathe.

"Actually always impressed so far with the cask choices of independent bottles with beenleigh. Super dry and top profile. Fruit and buttery doughy profiles that are well integrated with wood notes of a bourbon cask"

"The half-empty bottle has been sitting in my cupboard for a year now. This waiting time has really done the rum a lot of good. The nose is extremely fruity, sweet and the apple mentioned several times comes across even better than in the freshly opened bottle at the time. It has many similarities with an English Harbour Antigua, which I really like. The 48% burn is less than a year ago. Mirabelle plum, wood and caramel have a positive influence on the palate and the slight floral note makes the whole thing even more interesting. Very tasty."
