Renaissance White Alligator (RX12376)

The White Alligator is a limited-edition rum from Taiwan's Renaissance distillery, bottled by Romdeluxe. It was distilled in 2018 from molasses and aged for 3 years before being bottled at cask strength with an ABV of 64.8%. It has a complex aroma of tropical fruits, esters, wood, spices, smoke, almonds and sugar. On the palate it is fruity (Savanna), papaya and pineapple with jelly bean-like sweetness. Many thanks to Artur for sharing the bottle! A really very great, special rum! Very fruity, artificial strawberry notes mixed with esters, also somewhat reminiscent of Baijiu. Alcohol very well integrated. I like it very much!

I treated myself to a sample of this rum out of pure curiosity (thanks to Artur)!And am positively surprised!An extremely complex nose with fruity-artificial and spicy-roasty aromas!This continues unabated on the palate. Towards the back it becomes slightly bitter. So he also changes in the finish..a while later comes out again fruit!A very successful and complex rum, but requires a lot of attention!Today from the RumX calendar for the 2.th time in the glass...I am still very taken: it is very complex, intense and delicious!

A real surprise! On the nose, memories of a Savanna Grand Arôme. On the palate then a great, dense, creamy composition of tropical fruits, olives, nice spice and pleasant sweetness. The alcohol is very well integrated.Great how much complexity this rum with only 3 years can spell!

In terms of transparency probably unsurpassed, it almost slays what there is everything noted on the label: 15 days fermentation with Dunder, double distillation in Charentais Pott Still (15 h 7h), 3 years tropically matured in new ISC American White Oak barrel, maximum burned out stage 4 (which leads to the 'alligator skin'). On the nose I feel strongly reminded of Savanna Grand Arome, fermented (red) fruits, tobacco, vanilla. Similar on the palate. The extreme production process results in a super intense rum here with only 3 years of aging! Gladly more of it 😃

Very versatile rum: nose reminiscent of Fiji or Jamaica with lots of fruit and ester.On the palate more like a 91 Enmore KFM with licorice. However, not quite as round, the alcohol already bites. A nice new experience!

Could go through blind on the nose as Savanna grand Arome almost already. Taste extremely intense saffron, jackfruit, papaya and other overripe almost already fermented fruits, light roast aromas like when you roast anise cinnamon cardamom etc and a very strange but not necessarily negative light acidity.... Super freaky stuff! Meets but only conditionally my taste but exciting my first rum from Taiwan hereby probiet to have, thanks to Artur for that!

A 3 years old Taiwanese rum with such an aromatic complexity, it is exceptional! The nose is extraordinary with tropical fruits, strawberry, marmalade, mirabelle plum, papaya, esters, fermented and synthetic notes, woody, spicy, smoky, almonds, sugar, tobacco and floral notes that form an incredible aromatic bouquet. The palate is dreamy, the alcohol is superbly well integrated, with acidic cherry, mango, citrus, pineapple and olive notes that enrich the profile already described. The finish is very long, with notes of espresso, licorice and a slight bitterness. A rum of great class, a real slap. In short: may China leave Taiwan as a free country!

A real exotic and for me something very special. What a backlabel! Not to be outdone in terms of info and transparency. The rum promises to have everything I want in rum: 15 days fermentation with wild yeasts and Dunder! Tropical aging and a special first fill barrel that has the strongest burnout: Char 4, Alligator. Let's see...Nose: Ohlala, very complex, artificial-fruity-sweet, reminiscent of Savanna. Mixture of fermented papaya, strawberry gum, peach and kumquat. In addition, creamy taffy and fruit vinegar. Behind slightly woody, with vanilla and tobacco. Really interesting, but you have to like.The nose continues on the palate: artificial fruity (Savanna), papaya pineapple strawberry kumquat. Sweetness of jelly beans or candied lemon peel. In addition, slightly sesameTop !

First half of the sample, and I am not able to make my mind up regarding this rum. Tasty, different, interesting are the first thoughts. Definitely very dark and lots of wood influence for only 3 years. Let's have a second go later! After the second try I I think this one is too raw for me, I had trouble getting all notes to my tongue due to the burn, and some acidicy. I am also a bit sad I had not a bigger sample, to try with water or giving even longer breathing time, because in the end of my tasting session I finally got a mouthful of great flavours.

RumX Advent Calendar December 3:What a rum! Strawberry dominated rum pot on the nose and some eucalyptus, with time it becomes more like chamomile. Manuka honey like sweetness. Could also have been a Savanna.In the mouth a bit spicier, super tasty and with a great mouthfeel.

Überraschend lecker. Im Abgang ganz zum Schluss eine fruchtige Note die ich nicht fassen kann - lecker, wirkt aber nicht ganz natürlich. Nachtrag: habe mir jetzt erst die anderen Bewertungen angesehen. Witzig, dass auch anderes die Note künstlich empfanden. Grand Arome hatte ich auch im Sinn.

RumX Advent 3.12.22Very dense and complex aromas. Wonderfully balanced.Tropical fruits, sugar paper, vanilla, overripe berries, plastic, saffron, slightly floral and medicinal, tea, barrel.Guess a Savanna, 55-60%, >10 years.I like this intense flavor density. Very wild the whole.

RumXmas 2022 #3, blind: I have a bit of a cold going on at the moment, so I can’t trust my nose. A lot of tips towards Savanna, but not that much experience with those rums in my glass. So I can’t relate. I’m leaning towards Saint Lucia. It reminds me a bit of the Plantation St Lucia bottled for 15 years The Nectar for some reason. Maybe the Chairman’s reserve Master’s selection (GotA & RumX)? Whatever it is, I like it! Did not see this coming, amazing rum given it’s young age!

Blind wäre ich hier sicher nie drauf gekommen. Gute drei Jahre ist der Rum nur alt, kaum zu glauben das stark ausgebrannte Fass hat hier seine Wirkung gezeigt. In der Nase noch fruchtig-aromatisch und Ester, am Gaumen dann sehr röstig und würzig. Schöne Safran Note, fühl mich da mehr im Orient als in Taiwan. Im Finish mir dann leider etwas zu bitter und es fällt etwas kurz aus. Aber der Rum ist drei Jahre, was soll man da sagen. Mehr davon bitte😋

Nice! From the nose I would have guessed something low to mid estery with px finish. But no – it rested in virgin oak casks and that only for 3 years. Crazy. That means the fruityness must come from the destillate. The taste continues the theme of the nose. Finish is medium long. Very nice pick/find(?) by RomDeLuxe! Only downside: the price. At ~120€ I would have gotten a bottle.

Oh yes, that‘s not the usual stuff! Wieder mal ein Exot und mal einer, der nicht nur exotisch ist, sondern auch richtig Spaß macht! In der Nase weht mir ein fruchtiger Wind entgegen, der mit seinen künstlichen Noten von Plastik oder medizinischen Stoffen Assoziationen zu Long Pond oder Fiji weckt. Am Gaumen überrascht mich die Wucht des Alkohols, die zwar krass daher kommt, aber auch richtig Aromen liefert und daher richtig spannend ist, sobald man den Alkohol gezähmt hat. Hier kommen würzige und holzige Aromen zum Vorschein, die ich in der Nase nicht vermutet und bei einem gerade mal 3 Jahre alten Rum nicht erwartet hätte. Klasse, was diese nahezu unbekannte Destillerie liefern kann! Ich freu mich auf vieles mehr, was von dort kommt. Allein die wilde Fermentation macht Lust auf mehr!

Toller Rum mit hoher Reife und Komplexität für sein Alter. Vergorene Früchte und Ester, erinnert an Savanna, ohne den ausgeprägten Erdbeergeschmack. Wäre spannend, eine ältere Abfüllung zu probieren.

Tested as part of the RumX Advent calendar and pretty sure held for a Savanna Grand Arôme ... and for significantly older. The Alligator Char really seems like a time machine. For me, really a sensational rum ... will in any case keep my eyes open for an (affordable) bottle.
