How does this rum taste?
Crafted at the Clarendon Distillery in Jamaica, the Rest & Be Thankful MMW 1998 is a distinctive rum, aged for 23 years with a substantial 62% ABV. Users describe a complex profile with expressive notes of peaches, green pepper, and tropical fruit against a backdrop of wood and spice. This limited release, comprising only 179 bottles, possesses a nuanced aroma reminiscent of peaches, barrel-aged nuances, and marzipan, with a metallic undertone that some find divisive. While its high alcohol content could be more integrated, it stands out for its distinct character and balanced flavor profile, resonating with those favoring a strong yet refined Jamaican rum.

To Clarendon
A good MM that actually goes in the direction of Versailles/PM. Rather astringent, but also light fruity notes there.
I agree with Johannes - there really is a Versailles feeling here. In addition to the obligatory tropical fruit with lots of peach and mango, there is also wood and spices here, but in a pleasantly balanced form. There are also the aforementioned mineral notes, reminiscent of the typical VSG pencil shavings from Demerara. Exciting profile with its own character. Beautiful selection.
The alcohol could be better integrated. Very subtle fruity note. Slight creaminess on the palate. Some herbs and wood.
