To La Favorite
"This is one of my new samples I got and I had great expectations, because Flibuste is a name that comes with a note saying "Ultra Top Shelf" in my mind. My expectations were met to the fullest. The nose well balanced, sweet and definitely Agricole with fruit, vanilla and cane. There is a very light note of wood. The palate is complex, sweet and very well balanced and typical Agricole with fruit, spices, cane, chocolate with light notes og wood and nuts. The finish is medium to long and sweet with dried fruit, chocolate and spices. Leave to rest for a while to get all the notes and save the empty glass for later nosing."
"When we think of Flibuste de La Favorite, we think of a certain standard, prestige, and refer to the best that Martinique has to offer. This 2000 vintage is no exception. The nose is extremely well-balanced, finding the perfect harmony between floral and vegetal flavors (sugar cane and herbs), sweet spices (vanilla, nutmeg and licorice), dried fruits (prunes and raisins) and light roasted notes of nuts. It's very smooth and elegant, with a nice touch of gourmandise that's a pleasure on such an old rum. On the palate, the attack is just as smooth. It's very smooth, creamy and a little thick, giving consistency to the palate. The influence of vanilla, spices and wood can be felt, but floral flavors and herbs also come through, adding a pleasant touch of freshness that counterbalances the greediness. Dried and exotic fruits are also present. Once again, the whole is very homogeneous, with no single flavor dominating. The finish is long, still imbued with herbs and floral notes, but also spices, dried and candied fruits and vanilla, with a hint of chocolate. Far from the "prune juice" cliché sometimes decried, this cuvée is very elegant and smooth, perfect for relaxing and accompanying a day of rest."
"Meiner erster La Flibuste und was soll ich sagen, ich bin begeistert. Ein wundervoll fruchtiger und ausbalancierter Agricole. Erstaunlich wie viel man aus 40% herausholen kann. Sehr sanft, elegant und leider auch gefährlich süffig. Die Flasche würde wahrscheinlich nicht lange halten. Trotzdem brauche ich glaube ich eine davon :D"
"On the nose red fruits, toasted and forest. On the palate always red fruits, roasted nuts(hazelnuts and cashews), forest, wood, barrel, all full-bodied, dense and perfectly round. Very long finish and in the glass empty wood and roasted. In the aftertaste damp and musty/earthy wood. It is similar to the 1999 but less dry and sweeter"
