Beenleigh RA Australian Rum

"What a board! This is probably the most quaffable and at the same time the oldest Australian I have drunk so far... Incredibly intense after peach iced tea, apricot compote and mirabelle jam with vanilla, peach brandy in a wooden barrel (like the gölles I have), surprisingly little wood notes, some floral honey, jasmine tea, croissant with bitter orange jam and just extremely delicious and a surprisingly long finish. The alcohol content is also extremely well integrated.... In short: I'm just blown away by this Australian!😍 I really would not have expected!🐨 Am glad that I got me 2 bottles!"

"Very delicious australian🤤 Lovely taste of peaches like a mix of peaches icetea and rum 😜 In mouth reminds me also like biting in a fresh habanero chili 😬 The alcohol is integrated very well. In direct comparsion of beenleigh 2007 = RC > RA🥃"

"Heute 5 Australier im Glas. 1. Rum Club 14 yr: hellfruchtig, am Gaumen sehr präsent mit mittellangen Abgang. 84 Pkt. 2. Rom Deluxe no. 40 15yr: Schon ganz anders, als der erste Rum Club. Wesentlich trockener. Ebenfalls sehr fruchtig, wobei die Früchte hier eher dunkel beerig sind. Der Abgang ist leider etwas mettalisch. 85 Pkt. 3. Rum Club no. 40 16 yr: Ähnlich qie der erste Rum Club, nur mit mehr Holz und wesentlich trockener. Wenn auch nicht so trocken, wie der Rom Deluxe. Finde den Alkohol hier nicht gut eingebunden. 80 Pkt. 4. RA 2007 15 yr: Ähnelt vom Profil dem ersten Rum Club sehr durch seine dominanten hellen Früchte. Bei diesem Rum jedoch viel intensiver und komplexer. Ein absolutes Feuerwerk, was hier am Gaumen abgeht! Aprikose, Mirabelle und Pfirsisch in einer so intensiven Form ist beeindruckend. Wäre der Abgang etwas länger wäre das ein grandioser Rum. Aber auch so sehr gut! 88 Pkt. 5. Ferroni 2013: Absolut nicht vergleichbar mit den Kollegen. Total fassgetrieben. Sehr intensiv am Gaumen mit dunklen Früchten, nassem Holz und Leder. Wer Rums mit sehr starkem Fasseinfluss mag, hat hier einen perfekten Begleiter für den Abend am Feuer gefunden. Mir gefällt er auch. 81 Pkt. Die prägnante Trockenheit vom Rom Deluxe finde ich klasse. Ein Stück Wüste im Mund =D Ebenfalls hebt er sich etwas von den anderen ab, durch seine dunklen Früchte. Die beiden RC und der RA sind am besten vergleichbar, wobei hier der RA für mich mot großem Abstand der Beste ist."

"Unfortunately, I have nothing more of the RumClub Ed. 20. So the Rum Cask 2007 (58.2%) must serve as a 'next of kin' for a comparison. At RA I first notice the high ABV on the nose. After 20 min, then come nice notes of yellow fruits, less as a fruit basket, rather boiled down or in jam form, plus cake, vanilla and the longer I wait, also clear herbal notes. The same fruits on the palate, but more candied, plus barrel and espresso, surprisingly sweet on the finish. I like the RA quite well, and clearly better than the Rum Cask!"

"I don't think I've ever had a rum with this peach note! Reminds me in taste very much of the Spirit of Rum Australia, which is similarly strong and spicy and impresses with this subtle chocolate note. I also got some grape here as well, which I didn't notice in the SoR until a blind tasting. Blind was there a similarity to some Armagnacs, which I would also sign here. What's new with the RA here is the aforementioned peach note, which surprised me but really picked me up. The 67.5% is clearly recognizable and present, no question, but still gives the whole strength and depth. Overall, a nice bottling from the house RA, after last but some failures were there."

"Rum Artesanal propose un rhum radieux et rigoureux. Le nez est très agréablement fruité avec la pomme, l’abricot, les agrumes et l’ananas. Les épices (piment, poivre, vanille, notes herbacées) se veulent assez tranquilles, avec une douceur caramélisée et mielleuse en arrière-plan. Le cuir, la colle et l’eau-de-vie donnent un peu plus de caractère, mais l’alcool est incroyablement discret. Un profil olfactif agréable et romancé. L’attaque en bouche est puissante et chaude mais reste très aromatique, en particulier sur les fruits (abricot, pêche, pomme, poire, mirabelle, agrumes). On retrouve les épices et le côté caramélisé qui offrent pas mal de gourmandise, contrant le cuir, la colle le boisé et les notes rôties plus corsées. L’alcool est superbement bien intégré, le rhum est très plaisant à boire. La finale est longue, sèche voir astringente, pimentée, chaude et fumée, mais paradoxalement toujours aussi ronde, fruitée et mielleuse. Les saveurs sont dans la continuité du palais. Un très joli profil australien, gouleyant et au rapport qualité / prix très intéressant."

"8,1:On the nose, the first impression we get is mostly medicinal with a glue and woody with roasted notes like nuts, leather, spicy. We get some faint yellow fruits with apricots, faint citrus. "This Beenleigh is surprising, not at all what I expected! Compared to the other RA from 2007, these are two completely different rums! My previous reference from Velier falls behind! A very pleasant fruity nose of mirabelle plum, apricot and light sweetness! On the palate it spreads creamy, starts with a sweetness of a honeycomb, then changes to fruity, whereby yellow fruits also predominate here, gradually a flavor of fruit, wax and light polish emerges! Very unusual, but definitely delicious! At the end, slightly spicy allspice comes through! Dee finish is relatively long...with a lasting heavy fruitiness! RA has managed a very good bottling! My new reference"

"Solid Australian, but doesn't knock my socks off. Fresh citrus, apple, wood, spices, honey, some tart spices. I do not want to deny the quality, but I prefer subjectively a slightly different flavor mix and land with meienr rating consequently not in the maximum range."

"A great Beenleigh. Amazingly fruity. Reminds me of a fruit basket of yellow fruits. Then on the palate it is woodier with light honey notes and very creamy. Finish lightly chili. A great product."

"Auch hier ist die Pfirsich/Aprikose Note vorhanden, aber nicht so ausgeprägt wie beim Brave New Spirits. Mit der Zeit entwickelt sich dann ein hopfenartiges Aroma und etwas leicht Vergorenes/Milchiges. Am Gaumen dann intensiv und auch fruchtig, aber vor allem auch Aromen von Milchprodukten/Joghurt, sehr abgefahren. Gefällt mir in Summe sehr gut."

"Hardly distinguishable from the RC on the nose. Overall, however, quite closed and needs its time. A little "heavier" on the palate, more wood and darker fruits with a minimal alcoholic sharpness on the tongue. However, this is made up for by the very smooth mouthfeel. A top rum and in the first direct comparison of RC and RA 2007 I could not identify a winner."
