How does this rum taste?
Herbal, woody Uitvlugt powerhouse
If you like dry, herbal Demeraras or RA’s funkier bottlings, this Uitvlugt rewards you with intensity and length—but it’s unforgiving if you’re not into bitter herbs and wood.
Beginners, those sensitive to high ABV, or drinkers who dislike bitter herbs, licorice and strong pencil‑shaving/woody notes in their rum.
The long storage time is reflected in the aroma profile: the rum is good on the wood with a little smoke. Very spicy with strong ethereal notes of mint, a little acidic, no significant sweetness. A special marque that divides tastes. Not my favorite Mount Gay, but a solid rum. Price: 95 euros per 0.5 liters.

Mega product. The rum remains on the tongue for several minutes. Very intense taste experience.
Uitvlugt we have had more often in the glass and this bottling plays for me further up. Because he is not yet over the zenith and fully tastes like a wooden plank, but offers a more complex picture. Of course, licorice, a whole bed of herbs and the typical pencil finish can be found here again. The alcohol is well integrated. Bitter it is too, no question. But you know all that if you're interested in Uitvlugt bottlings. And because this one turned out particularly herbal, this bottle will find its lovers. Price: 199 euros per 0.5 liter.
Tasted at the 11th GRF in Berlin: Good Uitvlugt, but nothing more. No highlight and therefore rather one of many.
